Featured Artist: Ella Johnston

Ella's artistic practice reflects a long-standing interest in nature and the visceral relationship humans have with plants, animals and the collision between that and the built environment. Her use of watercolour and pigment ink fine line pens, as seen in her cards, hopes to recall anatomical studies.

Ella uses Indian ink, coloured inks, fine metal nib pens and Japanese calligraphy brush work  to convey a sense of spontaneity and play in the work. The minimal background aims to focus the viewer's attention on decorative, sensual elements of the subject, giving each piece harmony and rhythm. Read more about Ella on the blog
